Styling: Black Bridesmaids Dress

Mallory's wedding is approaching quickly!  I'll be in Oregon in three weeks!  I hit the old Pinterest for some inspiration on how to style my black, strapless bridesmaids dress and the required graduated pearl necklace.

This sleek little 'do is a glammed up version of what I wear on a daily basis.  Work a firm hold gel through damp hair, comb into place, and gently blow dry.  You can achieve major shine, too, with the help of Bumble and Bumble's Shine spray, one of my favorite hair products.  Love the makeup also!

I'm having a hard time deciding between something like these adorable cluster earrings and the edgy, deco-style drops.  I find gold really flatters my skin tone in the summer.

I own similar strappy heels.  A wedge is great for outdoor weddings to keep from sinking into soft terrain.  They also keep you comfy enough for dancing late into the night!

This cool manicure ties everything together and I can do it myself at the last minute (meaning: after the cake is done!).

{Insert Cheeky Fashion Title Here}

We are having a very odd beginning to winter here in MN.  Last year = snowpocolypse, this year = unseasonably warm.  We had a record-breaking high of 59 degrees on Thanksgiving!  While I am thankful for a milder winter this year, I do look forward to cold-weather fashions.  These are some of my most enviable looks from my favorite fashion bloggers.

Jessica Quirk of What I Wore does an awesome job of mixing prints.  I would die for this kitty print top and chevron cape!  Slim-fitting cords in unexpected hues are also on my list.
I recently picked up a great fitting blazer for $20!  Hats make me look bald, perhaps a headband instead?  I'd rock the heels like Jagger.

Fashion Zen's Iris makes me want to grow out my hair every time I visit her blog.  If I didn't have watermelons for knees I would wear the heels and socks combo, but in this case I'd swap in tights.  Loving the cranberry and mustard palate and houndstooth coat (Black and white, how I love thee...)

So dramatic, so glamorous.  Atlantic-Pacific blogger Blair is too much...in a good way.

Needs tights for MN, but how chic!?  Camel and black could be the new black and white...

Let it be known - If I had the opportunity to wear sequined pants, I would, a la The Man Repeller.  Bonus point for heels with bows.

And there you have it:  What I would wear every day if I weren't in chef pants and Keens.
Tell me which are your favorite looks!

Love,
Rachel

If the shoe fits...

{In my next life, I'm going to open a store for petite women of style.  It will have a cheesy name along the lines of "Short and Busty," and we'll sell small sizes with ample boob room and shoes for little feet like mine.}

I have searched high and low for shoes for Ashley's wedding.  First, they had to be a light shade of pink to go with our grey dresses.  Sounds easy enough, right?  Well, not when I'm both frugal, picky, and wear an odd size, 5 1/2.  I wanted shoes that were dressy enough for the wedding, but also that I could dress down and wear again without having to wait for another fancy event.  Also, the ceremony is outside.  I was hoping for a wedge heel or something less spiky to avoid the whole lawn-aerating effect, if you follow my drift.  Speaking of aeration, my feet tend to get hot, so a peep toe or something that breathes is nice.  Enter "Step in the Name of Love" from ModCloth.com...
Note to self: Grey tights!
I kept looking after I found these because I thought $90 was a lot for shoes, but that's because I'm used to spending about $20 at Target (my leopard print ones are ridiculously cool and cost $25).  After scouring the usual internet sites, malls, and even Etsy for vintage, these were the clear winner.  I love the mid-height heal (easy to walk in for long periods of time), made in my size, the perfect shade of pale pink, and bonus rose gold insoles!  A splurge made possible by my tax returns :)

Here are the honorable mentions, who didn't make the cut for one reason or another.
